Persistent, distressing low sexual desire is one of the most common things women don't say in a ten-minute appointment — and one of the hardest to open up when they do. The Desire Clinic exists so you have somewhere to send her.
What we are
A referral and education pathway for women with low sexual desire that is persistent, causes her distress, and is not explained by something else. Every consultation is delivered by a GMC-registered clinician through The Female Health Doctor Clinic, registered with the CQC, led by Dr Nikki Ramskill (MRCGP, MRCOG, British Menopause Society Registered Menopause Specialist), our Named Prescribing Clinician.
What we are not
We are not a pharmacy, a supplement brand or a product. We do not sell treatment. We assess, we advise across the full range of options — psychosexual, hormonal and pharmacological — and where a treatment is clinically appropriate, an independent prescribing decision is made by the clinician who saw the patient. You will never see a product advertised on this site, and we will never ask you to ask us about one.
What your patient receives
A structured biopsychosocial assessment against the International Society for the Study of Women's Sexual Health process of care, a clear explanation of what is and isn't driving her symptoms, and an individualised plan. Where the answer is "this isn't a desire disorder, it's her antidepressant" or "treat the pain first", we say so and send her back to you.
What you receive
A letter within five working days of the consultation: impression, assessment performed, management plan in general terms, follow-up arrangements. Anything prescribed is recorded for her notes. You stay her GP; Dr Ramskill’s clinic is the specialist stop.
How to refer
Use the referral form below. It asks for your registration number, your patient's contact details with her consent to be contacted, and a brief history. We acknowledge within one working day and contact your patient within two.
